Shradh (or Śrāddha in Sanskrit) is a sacred annual event where we pay homage to family members who have passed away. According to scriptures, observing Shradh helps the souls of our ancestors progress to a higher state of existence. This is a poignant and sacred moment in the Hindu calendar to remember our loved ones with fondness and gratitude.

The Sindhi Mandir provides a serene space for our community to offer prayers for departed souls during this time.

Key Event Details

This year, the two-week Shradh period at the Sindhi Mandir will begin on Saturday, 26th September, following the Satnarain Katha at 12 noon.

The Bhog Ceremony, Kirtan, and Langar Prasad will take place on the final day, Saturday, 10th October, from 7:00 pm. During this time, we will also read the names of those being honoured.

This year, for the benefit of non-Sindhi readers, in addition to Sindhi script, Sri Guru Granth Sahib is also being read with Hindi, an opportunity for participation to become more inclusive. All community members are requested to participate in the reading Shewa and enlist their names informing Dheeraj by phone 020 8450 1341 or email support@sindhimandir.org with days and times they would like to visit Mandir at earliest.

We are aware that our widely scattered community may not have the facilities nor the time to engage in patths, prayers or religious ceremonies. Many of you will, therefore, welcome the opportunity of making prayerful offerings on behalf of your near and dear ones who are no more on the material plane. Sindhi Mandir is privileged to observe event of Shradh on your behalf in a spirit of dedicated voluntary service.
