Salary and Hours
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), but we are open to discussing part-time hours (e.g., 0.8 FTE / 4 days a week) for the right candidate. Flexibility required for evening and weekend work, as required by the charity's events and activities.The full-time equivalent salary is in the range of £22,000 - £26,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours), depending on skills and experience.
About Us
The Holy Mission of Guru Nanak (Sindhi Mandir) is more than just a charity; it's a vibrant community hub that has been serving the Sindhi community in Cricklewood for over 30 years. We are a welcoming and inclusive organisation dedicated to promoting the Hindu faith, providing enriching social and recreational activities, and working to alleviate poverty both locally and internationally. Inclusivity is embedded in every aspect of our activities. We are particularly keen to develop our activities aimed at preventing and relieving poverty and are looking for someone passionate to help us on this journey. We also offer bereavement support in the form of prayers and remembrance events for those who have lost loved ones.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resourceful Charity Administrator to play a vital role in fulfilling our mission. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a dynamic and rewarding environment where you can make a tangible difference in the lives of others. You'll be the heart of our operations, working closely with our passionate Trustee Board and supported by our long-standing and loyal volunteer base.
In this diverse role, you will:
Shape Our Future: Contribute to the strategic planning and governance of our charity, helping us grow and reach even more people.
Be the Heart of Our Community: Oversee the smooth running of our vibrant community centre, ensuring it remains a welcoming space for all.
Connect and Engage: Build relationships with the Sindhi community, promote our activities, and be a key point of contact.
Bring Events to Life: Plan and manage a wide range of events, from religious festivals to community gatherings, including remembrance events, creating memorable experiences for all.
Empower Our Volunteers: Recruit, train, and manage our dedicated volunteer team, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Manage the Essentials: Oversee the charity's finances, administration, and ensure we meet all regulatory and safety requirements.
Develop your skills: There will be opportunities to use your current skillset and to learn and develop new skills as the charity grows.
You are:
A highly organised and proactive individual with proven experience in administration or management, ideally in the charity sector.
A strong communicator with excellent written and spoken English.
Tech-savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and social media.
Adept at managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
Experienced in event management and have a good understanding of health and safety regulations.
Passionate about making a positive impact and committed to our mission and values.
Desirable:
An understanding of Hinduism and Sindhi culture.
Experience working with or within the Sindhi community.
Fluency in Sindhi or other Indian languages.
A formal health and safety qualification.
